Eco Accessories from Australia! |

Handbags are slightly confusing to a shoe girl. Trying to get excited about them is like – as a good friend of mine once put it – trying to change the radio station with a TV remote. Nevertheless, occasionally I come across a bag so awesome the radio station does change.
I’ve been a fan of the fanny pack – haha – for a while now and before you go reaching for that remote, here’s the breakdown: it’s kinda the ideal concert/clubbing bag cause it’s hands-free, neither too big nor too small, and zippers shut nice and securely. Obviously, it’s not the cutest. But every once in a while you’ll come across a vintage black leather one that shouts “radical!” and you know that wearing it will double your cool factor, just like that.
Now I want you to look at these little numbers from Happy Cow and imagine them at Coachella or your local music festival – acceptable, right? If you’re wondering about the name Happy Cow, you are not the only one. The cow is happy because the leather is actually scraps left over from upholstered furniture! And bonus: gents, you’re covered as well with hands-free man bags – so jump on that bandwagon already! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oy, oy, oy! This brings me to another thing I love about Australia: impromptu shouting!
Maybe you’re thinking, but I can’t rock a fanny pack at the office! Well, I would beg to differ, but I see your mind’s made up, so here is a little something I am sure will prove more than adequate: After the Apple bags are each inspired by a different month, and are made from vegetable-tanned leather – but After the Apple doesn’t want to stop there and is currently pursuing a 100% organic method for treating leather! In addition, again it’s the little detailsĀ that make my heart melt, down to using eco-friendly anti-bacterial packets during shipping, as opposed to the non-biodegradable silicon ones we usually see. But honestly, even if these bags didn’t have an iota of sustainable cred to their name, I would still drool over them – which is kind of the end game for sustainable fashion! Go Australia! I always knew you were awesome!
