Kick Some Bootie |
Published by Vanessa Brunner under Accessories
I don’t know about anyone else…but I was really hesitant about the bootie trend for a while. I thought the idea of ankle boots seemed absolutely ridiculous.
But, after a good six months of ridicule, the ankle boot has won me over–and I’m officially obsessed.
I love the idea of a cute ankle boot with cuffed denim, or tights and a mini.
It might be considered über trendy, but the bootie has endured a lot of criticism–I have a feeling it’s here to stay.
Here’s a few of my favorite eco-booties right now:
Kaveri Grey from Neuaura
A great daytime bootie, made with all vegan materials. I love how they mix it up with the grey! The flat heel keeps it casual, but the boot itself is modern and sleek enough to carry off a skirt, dress, or skinny legged pant.
Maple from Terra Plana
One of my favorite eco-shoe brands, this new line of vegetable tanned leather shoes from Terra Plana incorporates recycled quilts from Pakistan and Bangladesh–meaning each shoe is completely unique. It’s a great eco-twist on an oxford classic bootie.
Odanek from Cocolico
While it’s not technically a bootie, the style of these shoes emanates the same rock-star vibe. These shoes take the classic pump up a notch with an ankle hugging, velcro wrap. Cocolico, a Spanish company, uses vegetable tanned leathers from local sources that use up what would normally be a waste-product of the local meat industry.
Ashanti from Melissa
From famed vegan shoe line Melissa, these Ashanti ankle boots come in a flocked, burgundy fabric with a sexy stiletto heel. While the silhouette is seductive enough for a night out, the shoe is made with ultra-comfortable and all vegan-lining, ensuring ultimate comfort–making it perfect for a daytime bootie call.
Scout Ankle Boots from Cri De Coeur
These vegan booties (from Cri De Coeur, which loosely translates as “cry from the heart”) aren’t exactly the kind of shoes you’d want to take on a scout camping trip, but they’re adorable nonetheless. The khaki color kicks it up a notch–wouldn’t these look great with a set of charcoal skinny legged cords?
