More Than Skin Deep

Published by Vanessa Brunner under Clothing, Designers

One of the great things about being a green fashion blogger is how I get to explore the endless and increasingly brilliant quota of eco fashion lines that are just exploding onto the scene.

ecoSkin is a line that I happened upon pretty randomly while hopping from blog to blog in search of inspiration. I was struck by the collection’s soft, draping dresses and silky, curve-hugging looks. The first word that came to mind was: flattering. You can tell these designs would look good on just about anyone.

Plus, take a look at these images from their Holiday Collection look book. Gorgeous, right? I love the aesthetic.

ecoSkin was founded in 2007 by apparel guru Sandy Skinner, who has worked virtually every job in the retail marketplace—from salesperson to president—over the past 17 years. Using this experience, her passion for sustainability, and her desire to make eco-fashion beautiful and accessible for women, Sandy created ecoSkin.

All of ecoSkin’s dye houses and manufacturing facilities are located in the Los Angeles area—not only ensuring local processing and manufacturing for her bamboo and hemp fabrics, but also guaranteeing that Sandy herself can overlook and enforce strict environmental and labor standards.

I love this quote from Sandy on ecoSkin’s site: “The more customers demand responsibility-produced eco-friendly products, the more the industry will demand responsible supplies and the faster we will clean up our planet, making green living mainstream living.”

So true! Shouldn’t that be everyone’s goal? I like how she points out that its up to US as consumers too.
