In January, 2007 Chevy unveiled their Volt concept car at the Detroit Auto Show. For those of you unfamiliar with the Volt, it’s an electric car capable of running 40 miles on a single charge. We all love having color on our walls. How safe is it? Have you actually ever thought about it? What is the source of the headache that comes with freshly painted walls? There are VOCs in our paint, toxins that are called Volatile Organic Compounds. These toxins can release low levels of emissions into our indoor air for years after application. I happen to live in one of the greenest places on Earth. The lush hills surrounding my house are filled with cattle, dairy cows, and horses. The people who live in our small town of 800 do exactly what you’d expect people in ‘Green Land’ do—we eat local organic food, conserve energy, and drive pickup trucks and Priuses.
